Job Description

Looking for a new opportunity in Portsmouth? Keen to develop and take on a new challenge?
We have an unmissable opportunity for a Veterinary surgeon to join our friendly team in Portsmouth Vets for Pets. This vacancy is at a well-established and busy practice with some of the colleagues having worked here for 11 years!

About us
Our colleagues offer a wonderful working environment where everyone is supported. This has resulted in some of the colleagues completing their journey from schoolwork experience to Veterinary surgeon with the practice.

We are a team that is made up of 5 Vets, 4 Qualified Nurses and 1 Student Nurse, 1 VCA and 3 Receptionists, as well as a fantastic Practice Manager.

Our practice is independently run, by Justyn, supported by a fantastic team, who are committed to delivering an outstanding level of service in the community and through this they have enabled a real “proud to be part of the team” work ethos.

We are proud to be independently run on a local level, meaning that you will join a team that can support your individual needs while offering you a bespoke introduction to the practice, local community and caring for our patients!

We have recently invested in a brand-new ultrasound machine and direct plate radiography system. If you have an interest in imaging this would be a great Practice for you. we have also just purchased a K-laser and are starting to incorporate laser therapy in managing a wide range of both acute and chronic conditions.

We are also planning a full refurbishment of the practice to increase our number of consultation and procedure rooms. This is an exciting project, and it would be great if you could be a part of this next big step as we continue to make sure we are a forward-thinking practice with great facilities.

Our practice is busy with a passion for caring for our patients. Although busy with a varied caseload we try to work at a steady pace with a well-managed diary to ensure we stay organised and finish on time as much as possible.

Portsmouth Vets for Pets are an RCVS accredited, standalone practice, with an excellent local reputation based on Milton Road.

About you
Our ideal candidate will share our high standards and be confident and capable. We would love someone who could bring new ideas and ambition to the team as we are always looking for ways to improve.

We endeavour to support every single member of our team to help with their development and allow them to work to their full potential. This opportunity would suit someone with great ambition and would be excited by potential partnership opportunities in the future.

This role can be very flexible with both full time and part time considered. The full-time role will be for 39 hours per week and will include Saturday mornings 9-12pm on a 1 in 3 rota basis. The part time hours will follow a similar pattern and ideally will be for 3 days a week and 1 Saturday morning in 3.

We offer a day off each week, paid overtime, protected admin time and a supportive environment. We offer this along with no OOHs so that when you are finished for the day you are always able to rest and recharge.
