Below covers everything you need to know about what this opportunity entails, as well as what is expected from applicants.
The Role
We are looking for full/part-time veterinary surgeons to join our busy small animal practice in Taunton, and our branch in Wiveliscombe. Our veterinary team operates on scheduled tasks with everyone having a chance to develop their skills and interests. Days consist of a variety of surgical work, lab work, clinical investigation, imaging, and dental work. We also run 15-minute consultations throughout the day, ensuring you have plenty of time for admin tasks, client phone calls, lab reporting, general case investigation, and discussion!
Our full-time vets work four weekdays per week (opening hours 9am – 7pm) and a maximum of 1:4 weekends (Saturday 8.30am-1pm in practice and 1pm-7pm on call, Sunday 8.30am-7pm on call) on a rota basis. We use an OOH provider for all night cover. We are happy to consider flexible working patterns for part-time candidates.
The salary is up to £65,000 depending on experience.
About Us
We are a well-established small animal practice in Somerset, with our main premises in Taunton and a smaller branch in the nearby town of Wiveliscombe. Taunton is a thriving town within easy reach of the coast, as well as Exmoor and the Quantocks, whilst also being conveniently placed for access to the M5 and nearby cities of Exeter and Bristol. Our practice is fully equipped for small animal first opinion work, and we are constantly improving and upgrading our clinical facilities to provide the highest standard of care for our patients. We are very fortunate to have a wonderful and engaging client base, and we are dedicated to providing a stellar service to them.
About the Team and Culture
With an emphasis on integrity, communication, and kindness, our dedicated team of six vets, five registered veterinary nurses, and twelve support staff all work closely together to provide exemplary care for our patients and clients. As a team, we believe in actively supporting and encouraging each other to build confidence, develop skills, and pursue interests in a calm and professional environment. We work with many local and national charities, including doing some work for our local RSPCA wildlife centre and holding events to raise funds for a variety of causes. Our team members also take the time to engage with our community by giving talks at local schools and holding open days.
Applicant Requirements
We are happy to consider qualified candidates with all levels of experience whether you are just finding your feet in practice, returning after a break, or simply looking for a new challenge in an engaging and supportive environment.
