Job Description

We are constantly growing, evolving, and expanding and are now looking for a full[1]time vet to join the experienced team at our Surrey group of practices, which consist of Cobham, Ripley and Pyrford.

We want you to be the best version of yourself so we have created a workplace where everyone belongs and has a voice, along with our culture of learning and development, we will give you the support needed to grow and succeed, and we will be there to celebrate your achievements along the way. Veterinary care has many challenges ahead – but we believe a diverse, collaborative team creates innovation and together we’ll meet these challenges and change the future.

The role will be based at the Cobham clinic where you will benefit from the expertise of our senior vet Rachel, who enjoys mentoring and is involved in training and supporting vets across the whole Voo Vets team. If there’s a surgery you’re not confident with, we can arrange dedicated time for Rachel to scrub in, teach and help you to develop your skills and confidence.

When you join us, please don’t feel like you will be left to navigate the waters alone. You will shadow one of the senior clinicians for an initial four-week induction and we can extend this up to three months if you feel you need the support. In addition to this, we also have an operational support team made up of a senior vet and an RVN who are able to travel to each branch where needed and work with the team on site providing support for difficult or complicated cases.

If you are having trouble with working up a case, why not pop your plan and findings onto the WhatsApp group so we can all help you and discuss things together.

We work extremely hard to make sure that work-life balance and your well-being is our priority.

Our generous CPD allowance of £4000 can not only be used for professional development, but also personal. If you’d like to spend some of it on tennis or cooking lessons, this is absolutely supported! We actively encourage and support vets specialising if they wish to do so, and have vets currently studying certificates in internal medicine, oncology and surgery.

Our vets start with 5.6 weeks annual leave, plus bank holidays and can accrue one additional day for every year worked, up to 7.6 weeks, which equates to 30 days plus 8 bank holidays.

Our full-time vets work a four-day week and 1:3 Saturday’s.

There are no OOH/on call, Sunday’s, or bank holidays.

Any hospitalised patients will be transferred by our internal ambulance service to our Surbiton hospital, where our dedicated night and ECC teams are based and will continue to provide 24hr care. We have fantastic equipment across all the sites from excellent labs to digital x-ray, and we’re just about to invest in a top of the range ultrasound for our Surrey practices. We also offer both Hydrotherapy and Physiotherapy at Cobham via our internal team of Hydro and Physiotherapists. If you have an interest in laparoscopic surgery, this is a service we would love to roll out to all our sites including Surrey, and training can be provided at our 24hr hospital in Surbiton. You will also have access to the additional facilities at the hospital, where we have our CT (supported by Vet CT) and on-site lab where we are able to offer same day turn around for results including PCR. We also have a top of the range ultrasound machine at Surbiton and access to specialists in Cardiology and Diagnostic imaging who perform live guided scans in real time.

You will also have direct access to the opinion and services of our certificate holders in dermatology, surgery, orthopaedics, and internal medicine. We also have access to specialists in ophthalmology and neurology who can provide live guided Investigations.

We are a friendly, sociable team who like to get together both in and outside of work, whether this is for our monthly team lunches, regular appreciation nights, events organised at a branch level or our practice wide Christmas party, there is always something to get involved in.

  • Salary of £38,000 for a newer graduated vet, up to £80,000 for an experienced surgeon/certificate holder – salaries are reviewed after 6 Months
  • Holidays increase each year worked, starting at 5.6 weeks a year for vets and reaching 7.6 weeks
  • Your birthday off
  • £4000 CPD allowance certificates funded and supported. Allowance can be used for personal and professional development.
  • No OOH, no on call, no Sunday’s, or bank holidays
  • Opportunity to take paid sabbaticals
  • Accommodation available

  • Healthy meals and snacks: monthly team lunches and staff rooms stocked up with healthy snacks, teas and good quality coffee machines.
