We are seeking a Whole Life Carbon Advisor to join our sustainability function and work alongside the Whole-Life Carbon Reduction and Transformation Lead. In this position, Senior Whole Life Carbon Advisor is vital in realising our mission and if we are to be 'first and fast' to capitalise on the opportunity to decarbonise the built environment we need to strengthen the capacity and capabilities within the business to drive forward whole life decarbonisation (embodied, operational and maintenance emissions)..

The new position will be embedded within the sustainability function, in the Carbon Solutions team, reporting to the Whole Life Carbon Reduction and Transformation Lead. By leading development and implementation of our carbon measurement and management roadmap, this role is vital in enabling our business to understand and validate our project carbon emissions, important groundwork for our decarbonisation efforts.

Key Deliverables and Accountabilities

  • Work with the Carbon Solutions team to develop and support the roll-out of whole life carbon measurement, management and reduction standards and guidance for all project types and stages and across all disciplines
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of whole life carbon measurement and reporting tools, together with technical, digital, procurement and commercial teams
  • Provide support to Project Technical Leads and their project teams in establishing and supporting processes for whole life carbon measurement and management
  • Learn and use carbon measurement software and tools, including One Click LCA and eToolLCD, sufficient to provide outputs for inclusion in bids or to validate values for contracts
  • Contribute case studies relating to whole life carbon measurement and management to support work winning activities
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of carbon literacy training for staff at all levels and support the upskilling of project teams
  • Engage and support factory teams to collect and estimate carbon impacts of products, driving them towards production of EPDs
  • Work with internal stakeholders, supply-chain partners and design consultants to obtain / improve carbon information and build processes to automate data capture, sharing and audit
  • Suggest areas/ideas for change throughout the whole project value chain, for instance requirements for input into the design partner framework or areas for supply chain engagement
  • Support engagement with clients and other industry stakeholders to understand their measurement, management and reduction ambitions, drivers and requirements, continuously feeding them into our plans

Technical Capabilities / Keys Skills / Qualifications / Experience and Personal Attributes

  • A demonstrable interest in sustainability and carbon reduction
  • An ability to collect, process and critically analyse information and data and identify trends in performance
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working within multi-disciplinary design / construction teams
  • Experience of carbon measurement principles and techniques / willingness to learn quickly
  • Architecture/Engineering/Quantity Surveying or other Technical Degree with Master's preferred, or equivalent experience
