Wireless Research Engineer - 6G / Beyond 5G

We are currently partnered with a leading developer of cutting-edge mobile technologies with applications across devices, networks, and services on a global scale. The team is looking to expand their Wireless Research Group working at the forefront of 6G research.

This is a permanent opportunity based in London, UK. Hybrid working (60/40 split) is available.

Key Responsibilities for this Wireless Research Engineer position:

  1. Conduct research in physical layer, MAC layer, and air-interface design for next-generation mobile communication systems.
  2. Research, analyse, and evaluate cellular systems; develop wireless protocols and algorithms for beyond 5G/6G using theoretical analysis and simulations.
  3. Perform theoretical analysis of channel models, create and implement channel models, analyse simulation results, and conduct statistical analysis on channel behaviour.
  4. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and papers detailing state-of-the-art developments, design efforts, and evaluation results.
  5. Collaborate with team members to publish findings in scientific conferences and journals, support technology generation, and contribute to patent applications.
  6. Assist in developing 3GPP standards contributions and engage in pre-standards efforts, supporting university and industry collaborations.

Key Requirements:

  1. M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field (Ph.D. preferred).
  2. 10+ years of post-Ph.D. experience (or 14+ years post-M.S.) in wireless communications.
  3. Proficiency in link level (L1/PHY) and/or system level (L1/PHY, L2/MAC) simulations and MATLAB.
  4. Strong background in 3GPP and cellular systems, wireless protocol development, and wireless communications fundamentals (mmWave, sub-THz, beamforming, RF/EM propagation, channel modelling, advanced waveform design).
  5. Research experience in Beyond 5G or 6G with peer-reviewed publications.
