As a Performance & Insight Manager, you play a lead supporting role with the Scottish Widows Workplace Pensions Distribution teams to deliver for our customers and colleagues.

Our team sits at the heart of the Workplace Pensions Platform in Pensions, Stockbroking & Distribution (PS&D) which is part of Insurance, Pension and Investments (IP&I) at Lloyds Banking Group.

The Workplace Pensions Platform offers the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse range of teams and colleagues; from our engineering labs designing the digital experiences for our pension scheme members to our front-line sales teams working with advisers, employers and trustees to win new business and retain existing clients. This is a growing business receiving significant investment from the Group to support its bold and exciting growth plans!

What you'll be doing!

The team has 3 core responsibilities:

  • Fast and accurately delivering weekly reporting that provides the senior leadership team with visibility on the performance of the business.

  • Preparing specific pieces of insight that drive strategic decision making.

  • Leading and supporting one-off projects that transform processes or customer insight.

This role is a 12 month fixed term contract opportunity.

You'll be working with the following data:
  • Primarily with Workplace Pensions data from our Microsoft Dynamics (MSD) customer-relationship-management system and analyse this within Microsoft Power BI or Excel.

  • Supplementing the data from MSD with other internal sources of data (e.g. Commercial Bank) and also external sources (e.g. from the Pensions Regulator (tPR to provide practical insight.

You'll be performing the following types of analysis and activity:
  • Understand and provide insight on the sales pipeline for new pension schemes including, how long it is taking for enquiries to move through the sales funnel, what are the win/loss conversion rates, what are the reasons we're successful and reasons we're losing.

  • Analyse how we're performing with growing our business from our existing pension schemes, including which schemes are increasing their pension contributions, which schemes are attracting pension transfers from other providers and which schemes are growing their membership.

  • Build insight on any parts of our existing book of schemes that are at risk of moving to another pension provider and provide practical information on the reasons for these risks.

  • Supporting setting the 4-year budgets for the new schemes and non-advised transfers by understanding market share forecasts, macro economic conditions and pension industry trends.

  • Working on the forecasting against the in year budget, to track and report progress.

  • Regularly support the checking of progress of business commercial performance and panel/colleague performance (eg PVNBP, pipeline, persistency, activity metrics), identifying performance improvement opportunities.

  • Support specific time-bound projects working with other areas of the Workplace Pensions platform to deliver platform-wide solutions.

  • Support the delivery of small scale data and analysis related projects or well-defined tasks on larger projects to improve insight provided to the business.

The key capabilities you require are:
  • Using intellectual curiosity to interpret data trends and efficiently produce high quality insight that can drive action and decision making.

  • Articulate compelling arguments to gain support of others to motivate change based on insight.

  • Piece together complex, sometimes contradictory information to build a coherent narrative.

  • Support the development and delivery of recommendations and proposals that convey a clear understanding of the subject matter and are appropriately tailored for different audiences.

  • Numerate problem-solving to model and analyse the commercial consequences of past, present and future business activities.

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues across the Workplace Pensions Platform at all levels of seniority.

The technical capabilities you require are:
  • Some experience using the Microsoft data suite including Excel and Power BI, or similar data manipulation and visualisation tools (2 years minimum).

  • Illustrate insight with PowerBI visuals supported by DAX formulae or similar data visualisation and logic based programming.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications e.g. PowerPoint

Location and Ways of Working

We hold monthly team sessions in Edinburgh (over 2 days). You can be based anywhere in the UK to apply for the role, as long as you can travel to Edinburgh for the team sessions.
